Buster Crabbe's Early Life and Career

Buster Crabbe was born Clarence Leon Crabbe II on February 7, 1908, in Oakland, California. His father was a successful businessman, and his mother was a homemaker. Crabbe was a gifted athlete from a young age, and he excelled in swimming and diving. He won his first national swimming championship at the age of 16, and went on to compete in the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam.
