Excerpt
Emily stepped out of the taxi and into the cold Parisian night. She shivered slightly as she made her way to the entrance of the Louvre Museum. She was here to meet her friend, Sarah, for a Valentine's Day dinner at the museum's restaurant. Emily had always dreamed of visiting Paris, and she was excited to finally be here. The city was even more beautiful than she had imagined, with its iconic landmarks, charming streets, and delicious food.
Emily entered the museum and made her way to the restaurant. She was early, so she decided to take a quick look around. She wandered through the galleries, admiring the paintings and sculptures. She stopped in front of the Mona Lisa, and she couldn't help but smile at the famous painting. She had seen it so many times in books and magazines, but it was even more impressive in person.
Emily was about to move on when she heard a commotion behind her. She turned around and saw a group of people gathered around a man lying on the floor. Emily gasped as she realized that the man was dead. A security guard was kneeling beside him, checking his pulse. Emily could see that the man had been stabbed in the chest.
Emily's heart started to race. She had never seen anything like this before. She wanted to run away, but she couldn't bring herself to leave. She needed to know what had happened.
"What happened?" Emily asked a woman standing nearby.
"I don't know," the woman said. "I just saw the man fall to the ground. He was bleeding from his chest."
Emily looked around the gallery. The other visitors were staring at the dead man in shock. Some of them were crying. Emily felt sick to her stomach. She needed to get out of there.
Emily turned and ran out of the museum. She didn't stop running until she reached her hotel room. She collapsed on the bed, her heart still pounding.
What had she just seen? Who had killed the man in the Louvre? And why?
Emily knew that she had to find out the truth.
